We don’t know about you, but it seems to us that the beautiful leaves have stayed on the trees much longer into the fall than in past years. As a result, it makes fall hikes all the more enjoyable because the scenery is so gorgeous.
Courtney was recently hiking in the Calabogie area and it was perfect. The weather was cool but with the right layers and a steady pace, staying warm was no trouble. The hike included some well-groomed trails and some that were more off the beaten path, and ended at a little spot over looking a small lake. It was the perfect view to take in at the end of a good hike.
Light, sweat-wicking fabrics are great for layering when hiking during the fall. They take the sweat away from the body, keeping you feeling dry and warm while you work up a sweat. They’re also great because if you do get too warm you can take a layer off, or add one back on if you get too cool.
Proper footwear is also crucial when hiking. Knowing the kind of terrain beforehand, Court was confident that sneakers would be sufficient but if you’re going to be on rougher ground, a hiking boot with ankle support is a great investment that we strongly suggest!
While the fall lingers, we highly recommend getting out and enjoying the beauty of the colours on the trees as well as the crisp temperatures before it starts getting too cold!
