Rise and shine! We know mornings can be tough – maybe you didn’t get enough sleep, or you’re up earlier than usual, or you just aren’t a morning person. Having a good routine in place can help combat a sluggish morning. Today we’re shining a light on some of our favourite ways to start the day.
First and foremost, and we’re sure you’ve heard it before: breakfast. It is so important to start your day off with a meal. Breakfast will start your metabolism and provide energy to get you through the day. One of our favourite breakfasts is avocado toast.
Avocado toast may not seem too exciting, but it is so versatile and delicious. We love ours made with sprouted bread (Ezekiel is a great option!), organic Vegenaise (honestly, better than mayo), avocado, tomato, salt and pepper. To change it up, though, here are a few ideas:
- mash the avocado with some lime juice, and garnish with cilantro
- add a fried egg for added protein
- substitute Vegenaise with hummus, and if you’re feeling spicy, a drizzle of sweet chili sauce
- if you’re looking for something hotter, add chili pepper flakes
Avocado toast will give you needed carbs for energy, and a good dose of healthy fats. Plus, it is so yummy and will leave you feeling full thanks to the fibre!
